Monreal in talks with Arsenal over new contract

Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal has confirmed that he’s in talks with the club over the possibility of a new contract. The 32 year old also confirmed that he isn’t thinking about retirement and that he’s very happy with the Gunners, despite recent rumours linking him with a move away from the Emirates. Nacho joined Arsenal back in 2013 and has made quite the impact since then, making over 200 appearances for the club.

The main club who are said to be interested in him is Barcelona, as the Spanish giants go in search of a back up left back to add to their ranks. With Arsenal, though, Monreal is much more likely to have a consistent place in the first team, and it seems as if that’ll continue despite the fact that he’s likely moving into the final stage of his career. Monreal will be hoping to feature for Arsenal when they return to Premier League action this weekend against Newcastle United.
