Montella: Chelsea have signed Cuadrado

Chelsea have agreed a deal for the transfer of highly-rated Colombia international winger Juan Cuadrado, according to Fiorentina manager Vincenzo Montella.

Chelsea have agreed a deal for the transfer of highly-rated Colombia international winger Juan Cuadrado, according to Fiorentina manager Vincenzo Montella.

Cuadrado, 26, had been tied to the Stadio Artemio Franchi until the summer of 2019, but will fly to London for contract talks and a medical at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

As part of the deal, Mohamed Salah will join the Viola on loan for the rest of the season.

“It was a sale that had to be done. The club has done the right thing because we are also getting a very good player,” Montella confirmed.

“Naturally, we need to understand how long Salah will need to adapt to our football as it’s different from the English and Swiss leagues.

“From a defensive standpoint, Cuadrado guarantees us a lot more than Salah. Cuadrado is a player that has always arrived with a smile and given everything to Fiorentina.

“I am convinced that if he could have played tomorrow he would have. I’m happy for him because he is going to a big club.”

Cuadrado, who represented Colombia at last summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil, tallied four goals and four assists in 17 Italian Serie A appearances for the Viola in 2014/15.

United sign Sadiq El Fitouri from Salford City

Manchester United have completed the signing of Sadiq El Fitouri from Salford City on an 18-month deal.

El Fitouri, a former member of Manchester City’s youth academy, will have a chance to impress with Warren Joyce’s Under-21 squad this season.

“This is honestly a dream come true for me and I have to thank Salford City for the chance, as well as the faith they have shown in me,” El Fitouri told the club’s official website.

“I am really looking forward to what happens next and to be given the opportunity to do so at Manchester United is unbelievable.”

Gary Neville, a 10 percent owner of Salford City, added: “Incredible story on Sadiq El Fitouri. Well done to Phil and Scholesy for showing belief in a lad who was out of the game!

“Phil and Scholesy gave him his Salford City debut just three weeks ago and the boy has signed for United. ”

Hull want Lennon

In other news, Hull City are reportedly interested in signing out-of-favour Tottenham Hotspur winger Aaron Lennon during the January transfer window.

Lennon, 27, has failed to establish himself as a first-team regular under manager Mauricio Pochettino, and is expected to be moved either this month or when the transfer window re-opens in the summer.

Stoke City and a host of other English Premier League clubs are also reportedly keen on signing the 27-year-old this month.
