Roma coach Vincenzo Montella has warned his players of the ‘dangers’ of travelling to a wounded Lecce on Friday.
Lecce have slumped to 17th on the Serie A table, three points clear of the relegation places, after recording just two wins from their past eight fixtures.
But Montella, who is unbeaten in two games in charge since taking over from Claudio Ranieri last month, believes last term’s Serie B champions still pose a significant threat to Roma’s hopes of holding on to a Europa League place.
“Each match has its dangers,” Montella said.
“Lecce is an excellent team, very well organized, a team similar to Bologna. They have top level players, they’re confident.”
“They’re a team that needs to be studied but it’s also a team we can beat, because Roma has the players we know.”
“Roma should try to play well both in defence and attack and reach our aims. We will surely go to Lecce with the aim to win the match, being aware of the dangers.”
