Montoya set for Barcelona return

Catalan daily newspaper Sport is reporting that Spanish defender Martin Montoya could be returning to Camp Nou in the winter.

The highly rated footballer joined Inter Milan on a two-year loan this summer with an option to buy for €7 million.

However, Montoya was largely disappointing in pre-season, with many criticising his performances and it appears his spell with the Nerazzurri came to an end before it really started.

The 24-year-old has yet to make his first competitive appearance for Inter Milan and it is perfectly clear that coach Roberto Mancini wants to get rid of the Spanish footballer.

The Italian coach is in the market for a new right-back, meaning that Montoya will almost certainly return to Barcelona in the January window.

It is quite surprising that Montoya has failed to prove his worth at Inter Milan, considering that he had showed a great deal of promise while with the Catalans, featuring in 45 La Liga games.
