Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed his interest in Montpellier midfielder Younes Belhanda.
The Frenchman said he liked the talented 22-year-old’s playing style but no move would be made without the consent of his club.
“Younes Belhanda, I know him well,” Wenger wrote in his blog for French Eurosport.
“He plays without any complexities, his real talent is dribbling, passing and he has good technique which can influence any game.”
“I love this player, but I do not want to create problems.”
“Montpellier are the ones who will decide if he leaves, once that happens we might look at him but we respect the work done by Montpellier.”
“I will be curious to watch him in a big match with a lot of pressure, to see where he can express his talent.”
Belhanda, was a part of the Moroccan squad which endured a miserable African Cup of Nations where the midfielder failed to shine in.
However, Wenger believes playing out of position did not help the youngster’s cause.
“Morocco did not spend enough time in the competition, and he played in a position that did not allow him to shine,” Wenger said.
“He played on the right, because they had many central players – it can happen that a young player misses out in a tournament, but I am sure of his potential.”
“Considering what he did against PSG recently, it can reach a high level despite his disappointing CAN (African Cup of Nations). But I am sure of its potential.”
