Competition: France League Cup

Market: Montpellier win

Odds: 10/11 @ Bet 365

Looking to book their spot in the quarterfinals of this years League Cup, highflying Montpellier will welcome Nantes to the Stade de la Mosson on Tuesday.

Starting with the hosts, while Montpellier managed to secure a top-half finish last season, it has been a very bright start for Michel Der Zakarian’s men. Coming off the back of a very impressive showing in their 3-0 win away at Toulouse over the weekend, La Paillade are now unbeaten in their last 10 matches in all competitions and their eye-catching run of form now sees them sat third in the Ligue 1 table. Winning the last meeting between the two sides 2-0, it will be their defensive record most impressing Zakarian. Keeping a clean sheet in three of thier last four, only PSG hold a better defensive record.

As for the visitors, although Nantes might be coming off the back of consecutive wins over Amiens and a struggling Toulouse side, it has been a tricky start for Vahid Halilhodžić’s side. Despite having their sights set on securing Europa League football for the Stade de la Beaujoire, Nantes do now sit just two points above the relegation zone. If the visitors are to pull off a surprise spot in the quarterfinals, they will be needed to improve on their recent defensive record. No team outside of the bottom three in Ligue 1 holds a worse defensive record than Halilhodžić’s side.
