Monza and Sampdoria shared the spoils in the 21st round of the Serie A season on Monday at the Stadio Brianteo. Even though the home side were widely expected to win and pile on the misery for the relegation-threatened Sampdoria, it was actually the visitors who led twice and came very close to taking the whole prize for themselves.
Manolo Gabbiadini struck twice for Sampdoria, but his 12th-minute opener was cancelled out by Andrea Petagna in the 32nd, and after scored the second in the 58th, Matteo Pessina converted from the spot nine minutes into the stoppage time.
