(GSM) – Internazionale president Massimo Moratti has called the disciplinary measures taken against his club ‘ridiculous’.
Jose Mourinho was hit with a three-match ban for insulting officials and making a ‘handcuffs’ gesture during Saturday’s match against Sampdoria.
Walter Samuel and Ivan Cordoba, both sent off against Sampdoria, were banned for one match each while Sulley Muntari and Esteban Cambiasso copped two-game suspensions.
“I can certainly say that I didn’t expect something like this,” Moratti ranted.
“You’re asking me for a comment… There are things to say, so many things after what has happened here…
“But we are on the eve of the Chelsea match and my first thought cannot but be that of protecting the concentration of the team, avoiding ulterior sensation: we will speak again about it.
“Now I am limiting myself to thanking Giancarlo Abete again for the consistency he showed after the telephone call we had on Sunday.
“He has done it in a way so our evening before the Champions League is the most calm and serene possible.
“Sincerely I didn’t imagine that he would be so aware and considerate in the chat, as he defined it, on Sunday,” Moratti concluded sarcastically.
