Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti on Wednesday gave his backing to coach Rafael Benitez, who is under pressure after Sunday’s 1-0 defeat by AC Milan left his team without a win in five matches.
“There are no radical decisions to be made, I have complete confidence in Benitez. Our project is progressing,” said Moratti, who dismissed press rumours that Benitez was set to be sacked as “inventions”.
“It’s you who invented that and I read about it in the papers,” Moratti told journalists.
“A match like the one on Sunday (the derby) annoys me, but it doesn’t change all the club’s projects.”
After three draws and one defeat, reigning five-time champions Inter have dropped from first place to fifth in Serie A.
The winners of last season’s Champions League were also soundly beaten 3-1 at English side Tottenham Hotspur in the competition’s group phase on November 2.
