(GSM) – On Monday, Internazionale handled quickly when McDonald Mariga’s move to Manchester City was cancelled due to work permit issues. The Nerazzurri preferred signing the Kenya international instead of Lazio’s Cristian Ledezma.
Inter have been in talks with Lazio about Ledesma all week, but couldn’t reach an agreement, so they turned their attention to Mariga, who they bought in part-ownership from Parma. Inter president Massimo Moratti thinks they were right to sign Mariga and not Ledesma.
“McDonald seems to be an interesting player,” Moratti said. “He is a young footballer with very good prospects and so it seems to be the best thing that could happen for us.”
Asked about Ledesma, Moratti replied: “I am sorry for the lad. He seems like a very good player and certainly would have been useful, but the world doesn’t end here.”
Moratti als commented on Inter coach Jose Mourinho and the Champions League. “We have a loyal relationship with him (Mourinho). He explains his thoughts with clarity and I believe that this is something very useful, both for the Press and for Inter.
“I expect to have more luck in the Champions League,” he concluded.
