Moratti puts Tevez talks on hold

Inter have put negotiations with Manchester City over the acquisition of Carlos Tevez on hold until after Sunday’s Milan derby.

Inter’s city rivals AC Milan seemingly dropped out of the race to sign the Argentine on Thursday following Alexandre Pato’s decision to reject the advances of Paris Saint-Germain and remain with the Rossoneri.

Inter are now clear favourites to land Tevez, however, president Massimo Moratti refused to be drawn on the issue on Friday.

“I’ll only talk about the derby,” he said.

“Regarding Tevez, City know and I know. We said a few days ago that we’d discuss it next week. I’m only interested in Sunday’s game.”

Inter are alleged to have offered 25 million euros plus bonuses for the player but when pressed further on the exact details of the deal, Moratti would only reiterate that he has spoken with the Premier League leaders.

“Yes, but we’re in contact with clubs all over the world, including City,” he said.

“In any case, my thoughts, as far as sport is concerned, are focused more on Sunday than on anything else at the moment.”

Inter go into the game against co-leaders Milan eight points behind their great rivals but high on confidence following five consecutive wins in Serie A.
