Moratti: We wanted Lavezzi

Inter owner Massimo Moratti has revealed that the Neroazzurri were interested in signing Napoli’s Ezequiel Lavezzi this summer.

The Italian giants signed Diego Forlan and Mauro Zarate this summer, but only after they failed to sign the Argentine forward.

“It’s true,” Moratti told the Corriere dello Sport. “I did talk to Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis, who is a dear friend, about Lavezzi.

“He has great talent and an excellent change of pace, but the player is very attached to Napoli.”

Moratti also admitted that the club had received numerous offers for Douglas Maicon.

“Having him back in the side after injury is very important. Offers did arrive over the summer for him, but we never took them into consideration. He’s an essential player for us.”
