More to come from Bolton, says Coyle

Bolton boss Owen Coyle said his side has even more room for improvement after their 2-0 win over West Brom at Reebok Stadium.

Matthew Taylor put Bolton ahead five minutes before half-time and Johan Elmander sealed the win four minutes from the end to lift Bolton into sixth place in the English Premier League, ahead of their final match for the year against Chelsea on Wednesday.

Coyle said he had no doubt there was better football to come from his side.

“We know we can get better which is very pleasing that we’ve won a game and there’s more to come from us,” Coyle told Sky Sports.

“There were a lot of nice attributes today that we’ll need as the season goes on.”

“We had to defend with our lives at times, we stood up and it’s great to get a clean sheet. It was a different type of performance but it’s pleasing to get the three points.”

“We always knew it was going to be a difficult game. West Brom had a few chances themselves and we recognise that but the three points were all-important today.”

“I don’t think we were at our maximum but we certainly looked a goal threat. It resulted in two good goals and could have had a couple more.”

West Brom manager Roberto di Matteo was disappointed by his side’s finishing.

“It seems that it is not the first time where we had the majority of possession and created the better chances,” Di Matteo told BBC Sport.

“We have to be more clinical otherwise you get punished.”

“We are scratching our heads a bit; we had more chances but we know that it’s our weakness.”

“As long as we keep creating then we will take them sooner or later. We hit the post, had one-on-ones and had one cleared off the line but you need a little bit of luck sometimes.”
