Alberto Moreno has admitted he isn’t happy at Liverpool anymore. Speaking to Cadena Ser, the Spaniard revealed he is frustrated with the lack of game-time this season.
The former Sevilla left-back, whose deal with the current Premier League leaders expires next summer, says he has been thinking about going back to his homeland, with a return to Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium one of the possibilities. There is no agreement of a new deal at the moment.
Moreno arrived to Anfield during the days of manager Brendan Rodgers, back in 2014, and since then he has lost his place in the team three times to three different competitors. In 2015, Liverpool signed centre-back Joe Gomez from Charlton Athletic and he was temporarily reassigned to the left-back role due to Moreno’s inconsistencies. Moreno regained the spot through Gomez suffering an ACL injury, only to lose it again at the start of 2016/17, this time with Jurgen Klopp opting for midfielder James Milner ahead of him. He was given another chance at the start of last season and he was playing well, before an injury of his own enabled newcomer Andy Robertson to shine, and Klopp hasn’t looked back since.
