Wigan Athletic are set to be without Victor Moses for up to three months after the forward suffered a dislocated shoulder.
Moses sustained the injury during Wigan’s 2-0 defeat away to Arsenal in the Carling Cup on Tuesday.
The 20-year-old was initially expected to be out of action for six weeks, but further examinations have revealed that he could be missing for up to three months.
Wigan boss Roberto Martinez admits it will be a major blow to be deprived of the former Crystal Palace man’s services until as late as March 2011.
“It is a huge setback. We haven’t got the final assessment but we fear the worst,” Martinez said.
“It seems it could be the best part of three months that we are going to miss Victor.”
“It is a real blow. He has worked hard to earn his place in the side and he has done that with real style. You could see slowly he was imposing himself.”
“Now he has been knocked back by an injury but we will make sure he comes back ready to have a big say in the final three months of the campaign.”
