Motherwell moved into to the Scottish Cup final after beating St Johnstone 3-0 at Fir Park on Saturday.

The home side had the game and their progression into the domestic cup final virtually stitched up after they produced an impressive three-goal first half.

Northern Ireland international Stephen Craigan opened the scoring through a close-range effort after latching onto Mark Hateley’s corner.

Scotland under-21 Jamie Murphy then doubled Motherwell’s lead as he fired a low shot past St Johnstone goalkeeper Peter Enckleman from the edge of the penalty area.

The game was over when John Sutton completed the scoring five minutes from half-time to seal his side’s progression to the final.

The striker pounced on a loose ball from 25 yards and saw his goal-bound effort shave the hand of Enckleman.

Motherwell kept their opponents at bay in the second half to confirm their participation in the May 21 final, where they will meet either Celtic or Aberdeen, who lock horns in the other semi-final on Sunday.
