According to numerous reports, Bayern Munich’s primary target to replace Thomas Tuchel as the head coach is Xabi Alonso, whose Bayer Leverkusen side is firmly at the top of the Bundesliga table at the moment. However, the Bavarians are believed to be contemplating several alternatives, should they fail to land their former midfielder.
According to the Mirror, one of those potential candidates is Jose Mourinho, currently out of work since his sacking at AS Roma. The controversial Portuguese expert has never managed in Germany, and it could be a challenge he’d be open to. The same report also makes it clear that the Bavarians will not be trying to get Jurgen Klopp, who is set to leave Liverpool at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Italian outlet La Repubblica claims Bayern are working on hiring Antonio Conte, and they place the former Juventus, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur boss even ahead of Alonso on the priority list of the Bundesliga champions. Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi is mentioned as well, though Bayern are aware they would be facing competition from Liverpool on that front.
The same goes for Alonso, for that matter.
