(GSM) – Jose Mourinho had a fair analysis of the match against Barcelona. The Inter Milan boss had seen his side struggle to compete with the reigning European Champions and gave credits to the opponents. “Barca is simply better than us.”
A remarkable but fair quote by the manager who has the difficult task to win the Champions League with Inter. According to Mourinho, Barcelona is way ahead of his team. “The first half they did much better, but in the second half we did better,” he said to Sky.
“There was a clear penalty for us which could have given us confidence, when there was still a lot of time left. But what can I say, we are far behind in terms of individual quality, they play better.
“They did well without (Zlatan) Ibrahimovic and (Lionel) Messi, but it’s as if they were there. For them it’s not a problem, they have a clear playing organisation. We missed (Wesley) Sneijder much more than they missed those two players.”
The Nerazzurri struggled for large portions of the match and failed to put any significant pressure on the Blaugrana.
“I expected a team with more desire to play, with less fear. The team struggled under Barcelona’s pressure,” the Portugese coach concluded.
Now Inter need a win in their last match at home against Rubin Kazan to make sure they qualify for the next round.
