Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho is delighted with the progress his side are making after beating Los Angeles Galaxy 4-1 in a friendly.
Goals from Jose Callejon, Joselu, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema sealed the win as Fabio Coentrao made his debut. Adam Cristman pulled one back for the Galaxy, but the damage by Madrid was already done.
And Mourinho is pleased with the way his players are starting to forge together ahead of the new campaign.
“I am very happy, it was a complicated game and we played with lots of intensity,” Mourinho told the club’s official website.
“Winning was not so important, but picking up form was, and I liked the attitude [from my players].”
“We played with two different teams today. We are always working better to improve everyday and we have a very good squad.”
The Portuguese coach then praised Coentrao who made his debut and played well.
“It was an important game for Coentrao as it will help him integrate. He played a good game and showed his potential. Callejon also did well and [Raphael] Varane played a serious game,” he said.
Real Madrid meet Mexican side Guadalajara on Thursday in their next friendly clash as part of their tour of the USA.
