Nigerian international midfielder John Obi Mikel is yet to feature for Antonio Conte in the new 2016-17 season and is facing an exit door at Stamford Bridge.
The Sun has placed somewhat sensational reports regarding Obi Mikel’s future claiming that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is keen to reunite with the player he worked for during his time in London.
Mikel’s contract with the Blues is due to expire at the end of the current season and Jose Mourinho is hoping to land the Nigerian on the cheap during the January transfer window.
The 29-year-old midfielder was once already a Manchester United player, back in 2006 when the Red Devils signed him for £4 million from Norwegian side Lyn, but the player switched to Chelsea just four days later claiming he never intended to sing for Manchester United.
Chelsea were forced to pay Red Devils £12 million to buy the player and additional £4 million to Lyn in order to solve the transfer conundrum.
Long-serving Chelsea midfielder has made the total of 249 Premier League appearances for Chelsea, scoring only one goal for his club in the competition.
