AS Roma head coach Jose Mourinho has reportedly been offered to take over as the head coach of Portugal national team following the end of their World Cup campaign in the quarterfinals of the tournament, which is believed to be pushing current Portugal boss Fernando Santos towards a sacking. It was also the end of the World Cup dream for 37-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo, coached by Mourinho at Real Madrid once upon a time, even if he doesn’t retire from international football immediately.
Mourinho would not be asked to leave his job in the Italian capital, but to take the Portugal one as an additional duty. That is according to Gazetta dello Sport, whose report adds that the 59-year-old is intrigued by the prospect.
Mourinho certainly has plenty of top-level experience and past success in his locker, having won the Champions League with four World’s Best Club Coach awards with four different clubs, two Champions League trophies, three Premier League titles, two Scudettos and one La Liga title. The full list of honors with his name on them is extremely long.
