Mourinho ponders Meireles swoop
Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho will try to bring Chelsea midfielder Raul Meireles to Santiago Bernabeu, Catalan daily Sport understands.
With Chelsea squad set to undergo a major rebuilding in the summer, the Portuguese midfielder is likely to be allowed to leave the club at the end of the season.
Real Madrid plan to take advantage of the situation and los Blancos are already preparing a bid for the experienced midfielder.
Jose Mourinho believes that Meireles’ battling approach and creativity would be a big asset at the Bernabeu and he is hoping to get reunited with his former player.
The Portuguese international has the same agent as the Real Madrid boss, which should help bring the player to Madrid at the end of the season.
The 29-year-old has been unable to hold on to a regular starting berth at Stamford Bridge, but he, nonetheless, managed to appear in 24 Premier League games this term and scored one goal in the process.
Inter enquire about Barcelona duo
Inter Milan are weighing up move for Barcelona duo Adriano Correia and Ibrahim Afellay, Il Corriere dello Sport has revealed.
The Neroazzurri president Massimo Moratti recently revealed that the squad were set to undergo major changes in the summer and the club officials are already identifying summer targets.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Inter are showing interest in Barcelona players Adriano and Ibrahim Afellay.
The two clubs have established excellent relationship during the negotiations taking Samuel Eto’o and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Camp Nou and a new agreement look on the cards.
Inter officials visited Barcelona camp as the Catalans were preparing for the Champions League clash against Milan and used the opportunity to enquire about the availability of Adriano and Afellay.
The two players have seen their first team chances increasingly limited at Camp Nou and it is believed that Barcelona would be willing to sell if the price is right.
Borussia struggling to keep hold of Kagawa
Borussia Dortmund chief Michael Zorc admits the club face a struggle to keep hold of star player Shinji Kagawa.
The Japanese has a contract until June 2013 at Signal Iduna Park with top European clubs lining up for his signature.
According to Bild, Borussia have offered the forward a new contract that would double his salary, but it appears that the forward is having second thought about extending his current deal.
Dortmund chief Michael Zorc confirms that it’s now up to the player to make a decision regarding his future.
“Shinji is one of our key players. We are very interested to extend his contract,” Zorc told Bild. “But the ball is now in his court.”
The Japanese forward has been a key player in Mario Goetze’s absence, having scored 11 goals and set up 9 assists in 24 Bundesliga games.
