Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has praised Didier Drogba and Loic Remy after both strikers were on target against Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
Drogba started in place of the suspended Diego Costa and set up Eden Hazard’s opener before claiming his 162nd goal for the Blues shortly thereafter.
Remy replaced Drogba after 67 minutes and got the better of Jan Vertonghen to seal a comfortable win for Jose Mourinho’s side, who are unbeaten in 21 matches in all competitions this season.
“I didn’t want to talk about Diego not playing in this game because I know what I have,” Mourinho told reporters. “We have Diego, Drogba and Remy scoring goals. All of them are scoring goals.
“Didier and Remy don’t play so many minutes, but when they play there are there and it is important for us. We don’t cry because somebody is suspended. We just try to be positive and give confidence to the players who are going to play.”
“I was expecting exactly this from Didier,” the Portuguese continued. “The important thing is that he’s here and he’s going to finish his career with Chelsea. It looks, for me, that he’s going to stay [at Chelsea] doing other things when he finishes his career.
“First of all he’s a team player. After that he’s one of these old days mentality. Not selfish, not vain. A humble guy, who plays for the team, fights for the team.
“It will be his decision when he decides when to stop as a player. It will be something personal.”
Costa, Drogba, and Remy and combined for 19 goals and three assists in all competitions for the Blues this season.
Vidal happy at Juventus
Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal has insisted he has no regrets over his decision to stay in Turin.
The Chile international, 27, was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United after the World Cup finals in Brazil, but ultimately chose to stay in Rome.
Vidal, who is contacted to the Juventus Stadium until the summer of 2017, has reaffirmed his desire to remain at the club.
“I feel content and happy here,” Vidal told Chilean radio station Cooperativa. “This is my fourth year here and I feel right at home.
“Things have gone really well and we are returning to play at the maximum level.
“I am very happy with our results. There are always transfer rumours but I am calm.
“When a transfer window is about to open there are always reports but I never think about that, I have an agent that takes care of that.
“I’m only thinking about Juventus. I am 100 per cent, giving my all in training in order to become one of the best.”
Vidal has tallied four goals and one assist in 10 Serie A appearances in 2014/15.
