(GSM) – Real Madrid manager José Mourinho has openly criticized his Internazionale successor Rafa Benitez once again, urging the latter to build on the foundations he laid at the San Siro.
The European champions, who hired Benitez as Mourinho’s successor this season, have made a slow start to the season.
After a draw and a tough win against Bologna and Udinese respectively in their first two Serie A matches under Benitez, Internazionale failed to win their opening UEFA Champions League match as they drew 2-2 against Dutch champions Twente.
And Mourinho, who was often caught in a war of words with Benitez, believes that the Spanish manager is paying for his attempt to revolutionize his Inter side.
Mourinho told France Football: “Benitez can do what he wants, but I think that he should have the intelligence to profit from the work that I did before him, instead of wanting to change everything.
“I have always done that every time I have arrived at a new club and it’s what Pep Guardiola did when he took Frank Rijkaard’s place. For me, this is being an intelligent coach.”
Mourinho previously told Benitez that he can never match his feats in Italy and Europe with Internazionale and Benitez responded angrily.
The Portuguese tactician’s Real Madrid start their Champions League campaign tonight when they lock horns with four-time European champions Ajax.
