Mourinho to bring Varane to Manchester United

Having reported that Manchester United and Jose Mourinho have reached an agreement over the Portuguese manager’s summer appointment as Red Devils’ boss, Spanish media have started the rumour mill speculating about players former Chelsea manager will bring to Old Trafford.

Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo have learned that Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane will be one of the first priorities for Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese has already informed Ed Woodward of his intentions and United executive is believed to be preparing a plan to execute the transfer.

Mourinho wanted to bring Varane to Chelsea upon his arrival to Stamford Bridge as well and will face an uphill battle trying to lure the French defender away from Zinedine Zidane’s team.

Regarded as one of the best young defenders in Europe, Varane is yet to prove his potential at Santiago Bernabeu. His compatriot and coach Zinedine Zidane has Varane in high regard and is believed to be unwilling to sanction the move away from Madrid.

The 22-year-old defender has made 17 La Liga appearances this season.
