Arsenal fans will be dismayed at the news that Jose Mourinho has labelled Robin van Persie as a potential transfer target, according to Italian newspaper Il Corriere dello Sport.
Inter Milan are believed to be using Mourinho’s expertise in the Premier League to building upon their Serie A winning side for next season, as the Italian team looks for the much desired European success that the board has demanded.
The Nerazzurri have been strongly linked with a number of wingers including Ricardo Quaresma and Mancini, and Van Persie is now being linked as an alternative option if Inter fail to land either player.
The Corriere dello Sport claims that the Dutch striker/winger wants to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer and that Mourinho is looking to cash-in on the players reported unhappiness by offering an escape route out of England.
Arsenal will be unlikely to let the player go cheaply, if it all, and it is believed that a bid of over £15 million will be needed to lure the club into selling the Dutchman.
Van Persie, 24, signed for the Gunners back in 2004 for around £3 million and has since established himself as a firm fans favourite at the Emirates after quality displays and impressive goals.
If the Inter’s bid was successful for the Dutchman the Italian side would be likely to tempt the striker by offering double his wages at the Emirates, which reports suggest would see Van Persie leave the London club.
