Jose Mourinho is very keen on bringing Kalidou Koulibaly to Tottenham Hotspur and has already made contact with Napoli regarding a potential deal, according to El Desmarque.
The contracts of Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen both run out next summer, and though negotiations over new deals for the two centre-backs are reportedly ongoing, Mourinho apparently wants to safeguard against any possibility and even improve his back line further, and to that end, he wants the Senegal international in North London.
There have been reports of unrest in Naples with an alleged conflict between several players and president Aurelio De Laurentiis eating away at the club, and Koulibaly is one of the players to feature in exit reports even more prominently than before. De Laurentiis himself recently stated quite openly that Koulibaly would have to be sold some day.
Manchester United and Real Madrid have been heavily credited with interest in the 26-year-old’s services, though there have been reports of other clubs as well. But with his contract not due to expire before 2023, Napoli are in a very strong position when, and indeed if, it comes to any negotiations over a potential price.
