Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has launched an inquiry into the availability of Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes, according to Catalan daily Sport.
The Portuguese manager doesn’t seem to be convinced with Petr Cech as his number one and he is reportedly looking to sign a new goalkeeper for the 2014/2015 season.
Even if Thibaut Courtois has shown a great deal of potential while on loan at Vicente Calderon, Mourinho would prefer a more experienced shot-stopper.
Sport has revealed that he is keen on luring Victor Valdes to Stamford Bridge and has already contacted the player’s representatives.
Valdes has already announced that he will be leaving Camp Nou at the end of the current campaign and it is believed he would be very interested in a switch to England.
Arsenal and few other clubs are likely to provide a stiff competition, but it does appear that the Blues are lading the chase at the moment.
