Everton boss David Moyes admits he may have to sell star player Marouane Fellaini if he refuses a new contract offer.
The Belgian international’s contract does not expire until June 2013, but Everton chiefs are afraid of losing the player after spending last six months negotiating on the new deal.
The Toffees experienced similar scenario with Steven Pienaar and eventually had to sell him to Tottenham.
Moyes is now hoping the sale of Mikel Arteta wouldn’t be a sign of things to come.
“Yes, there is a danger that selling Mikel could set a precedent, but I hope not. I would like to think we can hang onto our best players,” Moyes was quoted as saying in The Mirror.
“But there is always a danger when someone goes after saying they want to leave that it could set a precedent, and we will have to be careful of that.”
