David Moyes was downbeat after Everton’s 1-1 draw with QPR but relieved his side at least came away with a share of the points.
Royston Drenthe opened the scoring for the visitors with a goal from long range, but Bobby Zamora levelled for the hosts only five minutes later to ensure the draw at Loftus Road.
“(It was a) hard fought, difficult game,” Moyes said. “QPR are fighting for their lives out there. We found it tough a little bit.”
“It will be tough for whoever plays here on that pitch because it’s not going to make for great passing.”
“It will be even worse for QPR who have to play on it for all their home games. We got a point, it wasn’t great but we got a point.”
“I don’t think we had enough chances. Having said that I don’t think they did either. They put us under pressure in the second half but I thought the first half we played quite well at times. We just gave away too many free kicks in the first half which proved costly.”
Moyes praised Drenthe for his goal, but also stated he needs to keep working on his game.
“(It was a) really good goal. (Drenthe) came off the line, picked it up – he’s been good for us, scored a few goals for us and they’ve been important.”
“The attacking side of his game is very good. It’s the other side of it at times that worries – as he shows with the equaliser.”
“He’s adapting, he’s getting better and he’s scoring goals and having assists for goals as well which is really important.”
QPR boss Mark Hughes praised his team for earning an important point as they battle to stave off relegation.
“I think we made it tough for them,” Hughes said. “We didn’t allow them to play.”
“I thought in terms of which team affected the game most, I think it was certainly the way we played.”
“We were excellent in terms of closing people down and obviously trying to effect the game in a positive manner going the other way.”
“It is obviously a difficult game against Everton and you know you’re going to come under pressure in terms of their set play work. But apart from a few balls into the box and a couple of errors in poor areas, that was the only threat really.”
“I am delighted with what we have produced. Ideally we would have preferred three points out of the game but, in terms of the manner of the performance, I am pleased with what we produced.”
