Moyes hopes for milestone celebration

David Moyes wants to celebrate nine years in charge of Everton with a win against Fulham to edge his side towards a top-half finish.

Everton are ninth on the Premier League table ahead of the visit of Mark Hughes’ men, but Moyes is hoping they can push further ahead with a win in his milestone game.

“Since I have been in charge we have generally finished in the top half and that is something I can be proud of,” Moyes said.

“At some clubs you are judged by how many trophies you have won but at others it is all about how far up the Premier League table you finish.”

“I’ve been here for a long time and the players have played a big part in keeping me at the club. I appreciate the position I am in.”

“We don’t have a lot of money but I don’t think you should talk about it and complain about it- you should just get on with it.”

“We have to try and finish the season strongly without some players. We want to win the games no matter how we have to do it.”

The Scot’s first game in charge was a 2-1 win over Fulham in 2002 and Moyes has two stars returning to help push for a similar result.

He said: “I would say Phil Neville and Tim Cahill have got a good chance of being available and we have no other new injuries to worry about.”

“In fact my first game in charge was against Fulham and we won that day after opening the scoring about 30 seconds in.”

“We have a good record against them but I don’t tend to look at things like that and it doesn’t mean anything to me.”

“My ambition at Everton has always been to take the club as far as I can. I have always said I would like to win something- that would be important.”

“I’m sure every manager has their own style and Mark Hughes will do what he wants. He’ll set up his team to get a result at Goodison Park.”

Everton will be without midfielders Marouane Fellaini (ankle), Mikel Arteta (hamstring) and forward Victor Anichebe (shin splints).
