Moyes hopes to catch out Chelsea

Everton boss David Moyes hopes to encounter a distracted Chelsea outfit when the top-flight sides meet again in the FA Cup on Saturday.

The Toffees travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea in a fourth round replay after the Blues stole a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park on January 29.

But the Blues have plenty to concern themselves with right now, not the least a crucial Champions League tie at FC Copenhagen three days later.

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is also engaged in the ongoing battle for a top-four finish in the Premier League, and Moyes hopes the hosts will be sufficiently disengaged when his men visit.

“You can see the quality (in the Champions League) from most of the games people have seen this week,” Moyes said.

“Chelsea will want to be in there with those teams, certainly wanting to get to the final stages. I’m hoping that they’ve got that in mind and hoping that they are thinking about that more than my game.”

“It’s a great opportunity to progress in the FA Cup and we want to do it. Chelsea will know they’re in for a game as well. They’ll know we’ve made it hard for them in the past and we’ll try and do that again.”

“It’s always a really tough place to go to Stamford Bridge, but over recent seasons we’ve gone there and had good results.”

“Tim Cahill has scored in big games, Jermaine (Beckford) can score in important games as well. So hopefully whoever gets the jersey will try and get some goals.”

One Toffee who will not be testing Chelsea at goal is striker Louis Saha, who missed Everton’s 2-0 loss at Bolton in the top-flight on Sunday with a hamstring strain.

Moyes conceded the France international will most likely not be lining up at Stamford Bridge, while midfielder Jack Rodwell is a slim chance as he recovers from a groin injury.

“I don’t think Louis Saha has a chance. We’ve said at the time it will be 10-14 days and we’re sticking by that, I think that will be the case,” Moyes said.

“Jack Rodwell’s done great, he’s made great strides to be fit but I think it will come too quickly for him but he’s done well and hopefully he’ll be available next week.”
