Moyes longs for killer instinct

Everton manager David Moyes is anticipating a ruthless display from his side when they take on West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

Everton have drawn three of their previous four matches, while their last Premier League victory came at the end of October and Moyes knows his side needs to start winning games.

“I think we’ve been using that word [ruthless] since the second game of the season. We need to score a few more goals and we know we can. We’ve been struggling to score and we need to become more ruthless and take the chances when we get them,” Moyes said.

“All the draws are frustrating but it could have been worse – they could have been defeats. I think there’s a lot of games we know we should have won but we have to stop talking about it and get on with it.”

“There have been some games at Goodison this year that we should have won but didn’t. We need to concentrate on our job and do a little better at home.”

“We’ve always felt like we’re a side that deserves to be up there. We can talk all we like and say we were unlucky but in the end what you do on the field counts and we will be judged by our position at the end of the season.”

The teams sit level on points and Moyes thinks West Brom have done well since promotion from the Championship last season.

“West Brom have come into the Premier League and done well but it’s a long hard season. It’s the same for us and we need to get on and get kicking up the league,” he said.

“But I have to concentrate on Everton and try to get us results.”
