Manchester United boss David Moyes has all but confirmed reports that he will rest a number of regular starters in the Capital One Cup quarter-final clash against Stoke City.
The Red Devils have now recorded back to back victories having defeated Shakhtar Donetsk and Aston Villa, but they need to continue in the same manner in order to save this season.
And even though a victory at Britannia Stadium would see them edge closer to the first trophy of the season, David Moyes has suggested that he will make a number of changes to his starting line-up.
“We’ve got enough players to use. The way for any player to get an extended run is by playing well and doing a job.
“We’ve not been that consistent where you could ever say anybody has necessarily said ‘I’ve put my name down to be there every week’.”
And while Michael Carrick, Robin van Persie and Marouane Fellaini remain sidelined, chances are that Jonny Evans, Patrice Evra and Ryan Giggs will be among those rested.
Even so, Manchester United are 3/4 favourites to win the game in regular time, and 1/3 to make it to the Capital One Cup semi-finals.
