Germany’s Thomas Muller says the team has more options down the left than the right.
The Bayern man scored and added two assists as Germany beat Turkey 3-1 in Istanbul to maintain their 100 per cent record in qualification for Euro 2012.
Muller was happy with the result and was keen to find comparisons between the national team and his club side, Bayern.
“We did not have as much possession of the ball initially,” he said.
“In addition, there was not much action down the right. We are a little left-heavy, the same as Bayern Munich. It doesn’t matter though, I’ll always find some space,” he said.
The 22-year-old also spoke of the importance of taking the lead in what was a hostile stadium environment.
“We already knew that Turkey would struggle when we played our game and moved the ball quickly,” he said.
“That tactic worked for most of the game very well. Only at the beginning did we have a few problems but once we made it 1-0, it was quiet in the stadium and we could understand each other.”
Germany now face Belgium on Tuesday in Dusseldorf, knowing that a victory will mean the team qualify with a 100 per cent record for the first time.
“It is important that we deliver on Tuesday for our fans. I hope we break the record but if not, we will still continue to live happily, knowing we already have our ticket for the European Championships,” Muller said.
Muller has made 22 appearances for Germany, scoring eight goals in the process.
