(GSM) – Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari has been ruled out of Saturday’s warm-up friendly against Latvia as he recovers from a thigh injury.
Inter Milan’s Muntari, 25, had a scan done on his left leg earlier in the week that showed clotting in the thigh area.
Despite this, Ghanaian FA officials are confident that Muntari will be fit for match play when the Black Stars open Group D play a week from Sunday against Serbia.
Muntari has 15 goals in 52 appearances for Ghana, and he was a key figure in Inter’s treble-winning side this past season.
Ghana will play Latvia on Sunday in Milton Keynes before heading to South Africa.
