Shkodran Mustafi is open to staying at Arsenal after this season, according to Evening Standard.
Year after year since his arrival to the club in 2016, Mustafi has been described as one of the main reasons Arsenal’s defence was considered a mockery of modern football. He lost his place in the team several times, but injuries, suspensions and form issues forced first Arsene Wenger and then Unai Emery to give him another chance time and again. However, his improvement has been very notable since Mikel Arteta took the reins, and several recent games saw him become an important player in the team’s strong defensive displays. He was particularly good in Arsenal’s 0-1 triumph away to Olympiacos in the first leg of the Europa League round of 32, and his fine performances have enabled him to repair his relationship with the fans.
So after the club’s unsuccessful attempt to sell him last summer, it seems the 27-year-old German may still be in North London when 2020/21 kicks off.
