(GSM) – Adrian Mutu could stay on at Fiorentina according to his agent. Mutu’s agent believes the Romanian striker may stay in Florence if his suspension for failing two anti-doping tests is six months or less.
The Romania international tested positive for banned substance Sibutramine twice in January and has been provisionally banned while the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) considers his case.
Yesterday CONI’s tribunal recommended that Mutu receive a one-year suspension.
Speaking to Lady Radio, Mutu’s agent, Giovanni Becali, said, “Adrian will pay Fiorentina a fine because perhaps with his presence on the pitch they would today be in the quarter-finals of the Champions League and higher placed in Serie A.
“Fiorentina have behaved towards Mutu in the best of ways.
“If the ban were to be around six months, he will stay in Florence, otherwise I don’t know,” Becali concluded.
