Adrian Mutu extends his contract with ACF Fiorentina, keeping him at the Italian club until 2012.
Although still under contract, many thought the star forward was on his way out at the end of last season, with AS Roma publicly expressing interest in the 29 year old.
Much fear amongst the Viola fans finally come to an end as the Romanian forward put pen on paper to extend his contract from 2011 to 2012. He will earn between 150 and 200 thousand Euros more per year, about 10 per cent of his current wage.
More good news will arrive for Viola fans as goalkeeper Sébastien Frey is set to sign a new contract until 2013. In addition, defender Alessandro Gamberini will extend his contract until 2013 later this month.
Although Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli doesnÂ’t believe his team will win Serie A this year, keeping their star players at the club along with the acquisition of much sought over defender Juan Manuel Vargas and Italian forward Alberto Gilardino will sure pose a strong threat this upcoming season.
