Several media suggested that Adrian Mutu would leave his club Fiorentina but the Romanian striker will stay in Florence and pay the € 17 million fine.

Mutu was handed the huge fine after breaching his contract with Chelsea in 2004. The Fiorentina ace was dumped by the English side after it appeared he used cocaine.

Giovanni Becali, Mutu’s agent, said that his client will definitely pay the fine.

`The first problem for Mutu to resolve, in one way or another, is how to pay this fine,` Becali told La Gazetta dello Sport on Monday.

`Maybe there will be a meeting with Roman Abramovich and Peter Kenyon (Chelsea’s owner and general director),` Becali added.

A transfer to a Russian side would enable Mutu to pay the fine much faster but Becali said that a transfer isn’t an option for the 30-year-old striker.

Russian media suggested a transfer to Terek Grozny or Zenit St Petersburg, where he could earn € 6.5 million per year. Fiorentina pays him € 3.5 million per year.

`We haven’t received an offer and Adrian doesn’t want to leave Florence. He’s happy in Italy,` Becali concluded.
