According to Mundo Deportivo, a major European club has submitted a mystery €70 million bid for Ajax star Frenkie De Jong – and the general belief is that Manchester City are the club behind it. Several big teams have already come out and stated their desire to sign the youngster, with Barcelona being the one that stands out above the rest.
Earlier this month it seemed as if City were indeed leading the race to sign Frenkie, but that Barca were still monitoring his status. It certainly seems like we won’t get a resolution to this until at least January, although it seems as if City have ‘fired the first shot’ so to speak by actually submitting a bid.
Either way it seems like Ajax have the chance to play both teams off against one another, with the end goal being to get more money for themselves in exchange for De Jong.
