France’s Yann M’Vila has admitted that he was overcome with emotion after suffering an ankle injury against Serbia on Thursday.

The Rennes midfielder was in tears as he limped off in the opening minutes of his country’s penultimate Euro 2012 warm-up fixture but has now revealed there is a chance that he will be fit for Les Bleus’ tournament opener against England on June 11.

“I’m less worried now than I was when I left the pitch,” M’Vila told reporters.

“The same thing happened to me when I was 13 and I had two months of plaster. I thought about that, my family – everything came back up. That’s why I cried.

“At the time, I felt a very big pain. But I went for a scan and it’s just a sprain. Now, I am not worried.

“I will do everything to go to the Euros. But as for the match against England, we will see. Only God knows.”

The 21-year-old, who is expected to move to one of Europe’s elite clubs this summer, was one of France’s key performers during their qualifiers.

Laurent Blanc’s men face Estonia on Tuesday before kicking off their campaign against old rivals England.
