It would appear that Lyon won the battle ahead of the January transfer window.
After issuing an ultimatum to Nabil Fekir over his immediate future at the Ligue 1 outfit, Lyon seem to have the 25-year-old on path to sign a contract extension.
Nabil Fekir was close to leaving Lyon on multiple occasions during the past couple of months and his agonizingly failed move to Liverpool was well documented. The player had even taken pictures wearing a Liverpool shirt and filmed his welcome interview when a medical report forced Reds to pull the plug on the move at the eleventh hour.
Interest in Fekir continued with both Chelsea and Bayern Munich said to be keen on the Lyon star, but it now seems as if the French forward will sing a new deal that would keep him at Gerland until 2020.
“I don’t think he wants to leave this winter. The extension is in full swing and the contract is on my desk so we will make sure that Fekir signs it soon”, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas told the French radio station RMC.
