Portugal winger Nani has insisted that he is ‘very happy’ at Manchester United, revealing that new contract negotiations are currently ongoing, according to Sky Sports.
The 25-year-old had yet another productive campaign with the Red Devils in 2011-12, bagging eight goals and 10 assists in 29 league matches. All in all, he tallied 15 goals and 15 assists in 54 appearances for club and country last season.
The former Sporting man is fresh off an exceptional showing at Euro 2012 for the Selecção, registering two assists in five matches for the semi-finalists.
When asked about his future at United, Nani said: “We will see.”
“I am very happy at Man United and have been there five years and won every title.
“The manager has great faith in me and that’s what is important. My agent is negotiating and we’ll see what happens.”
All things considered, Manchester United can ill afford to lose the dynamic Portuguese, especially if they are to overtake bitter rivals City en route to the English Premier league title.
Will the Red Devils retain the services of Nani?
Roberto Martinez refuses to be lured into Victor Moses’ transfer debate
Wigan boss Roberto Martinez is distancing himself from publicly discussing the Victor Moses transfer saga with the media, Sky Sports understands.
“We’re not going to be drawn into the media speculation,” said Martinez.
“All I will say is that Victor had a tremendous season last year – particularly after Christmas – and he is still only 21.
“I’m really looking forward to Victor having a very good break and coming back refreshed and ready to go.”
The 21-year-old Wigan Athletic standout has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea this summer after refusing to ink a new contract with the Latics.
Furthermore, Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo is reportedly willing to pay up to £10 million to bring the Wigan forward to west London.
The former Crystal Palace attacker could theoretically replace Ivorian Salomon Kalou at Chelsea.
Kalou left west London in favour of northern France after signing a four-year deal with Lille OSC earlier this week.
The 26-year-old Ivory Coast international tallied five goals and one assist in 26 appearances in all competitions for the European Cup champions in 2011-12.
Ironically, Kalou will be replacing Eden Hazard at Lille. For those who are not in the know, Hazard joined the Blues via Lille earlier this summer.
