Napoli agree personal terms with De Guzman

La Gazzetta dello Sport understands that Napoli have moved a step closer to signing Dutch midfielder Jonathan de Guzman from Villarreal.

The Azzurri seem to have made the Netherlands international their primary target for the central midfield position and they are expected to lure him to Stadio San Paolo before the transfer window closes.

Napoli officials have managed to agree personal terms with the player after meeting his agent on Saturday, but they have yet to find an understanding with Villarreal.

Nevertheless, they expect to pay between €5m and €7m for the footballer who spent last two seasons on loan at Swansea.

Even with De Guzman impressing at the Liberty Stadium, scoring 9 goals in 71 Premier League fixtures, the Swans opted against buying him outright.

The 26-year-old proved his credentials by making three starts for Netherlands at the 2014 World Cup, helping Oranje achieve a third-place finish.
