Bartosz Bereszynski is set to leave Sampdoria and join Napoli at the turn of the year, according to Fabrizio Romano. The 30-year-old right-back is supposed to take up the role of a backup option for captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo. Meanwhile, 22-year-old Alessandro Zanoli, also a right-back, should be going in the other direction as part of the deal.
Having moved several times between Warta and Lech Poznan, Bereszynski spent four years playing for Legia Warsawa before joining Sampdoria in January 2017 for a reported fee of €1.8 million. Since then, he’s gone on to make a total of 186 appearances for the Italian club, scoring just once and producing eight assists. He has 50 caps as a Poland international under his belt, including four matches at this year’s World Cup.
As for Zanoli, he joined Napoli at the Under-19 level and had loan spells with Serie D sides Carpi and Legnago, before returning to the club 18 months ago. This season, he has only made three appearances, one in the Serie A and two in the Champions League, all three as a late substitute.
