Italian newspaper Il Corriere dello Sport understands that Napoli are showing interest in Mehdi Benatia and Gabriel Paletta.
With Paolo Cannavaro and Gianluca Grava facing a lengthy ban for their involvement in the match-fixing scandal and Hugo Campagnaro set to leave the club in January, Napoli might need to sign at least two central defenders in the winter transfer window.
It is for that reason that the Azzurri have been linked with moves for Mehdi Benatia and Gabriel Paletta.
Napoli attempted to sign the Algerian centre-back in the summer before turning their attention to Alessandro Gamberini, but they are expected to reignite their interest in the player.
Benatia is eager to leave Udinese for greener pastures, although the Azzurri could face a stiff competition for his signature.
Napoli are also pondering a move for Parma’s Gabriel Paletta, who is valued at around €6 million.
The Argentine defender, who holds an Italian passport, has really impressed at Ennio Tardini and is tipped to make a step up in the near future.
