Napoli claim six clubs fighting for Lavezzi
Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis has confirmed reports that top European clubs are fighting for the signature of star forward Ezequiel Lavezzi.
The Argentine striker, who has a €31 million release clause inserted into his contract, seems to have set his sights on leaving San Paolo and it’s now up to Napoli chiefs to negotiate with interested clubs.
The Azzurri president Aurelio de Laurentiis explains that no less than six clubs are battling for the player’s signature.
“The farewell of Lavezzi? There are six clubs in the race,” the movie mogul told Radio Marte.
“We will evaluate together which proposal is the best for him and for us.”
Inter and Paris Saint-Germain have both confirmed their interest in the Argentine forward, while Manchester City and Chelsea are also thought to be keen.
The 27-year-old has been in fine form this season, scoring 9 goals and producing 7 assists in 30 Serie A games.
Sao Paulo make a move on Kaka
Real Madrid midfielder Kaka is in talks with Brazilian club Sao Paulo, according to El Mundo Deportivo.
While the Brazilian continues to insist that he is happy at Santiago Bernabeu, the reality is he is looking for a new club.
Carlo Ancelotti and Leonardo are doing their best to lure the player to Parc des Princes, but PSG have yet to make an official bid for the player’s services.
Meanwhile, El Mundo Deportivo reports that Sao Paulo are interested in signing the highly rated midfielder.
According to the Spanish publication, an influential member of the Brazilian club Marco Aurelio Cunha met with Kaka last Thursday to discuss a possible move to Brazil.
The 30-year-old is eager to take part at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and he won’t be able to win back his place in the national team if he remains on the fringes at Real Madrid.
Van der Vaart coy on Schalke link
Tottenham playmaker Rafael van der Vaart has refused to rule out a move to Schalke, amidst speculations linking him with a move to Veltins Arena.
The Bundesliga side are searching for a new playmaker after Raul Gonzalez Blanco left the club and Bild reports the Miners are keen on Rafa van der Vaart.
The Dutch international is not entirely satisfied with his status at White Hart Lane and could decide to leave after Spurs misses out on the Champions League qualification.
Schalke have already opened talks with the player’s representatives and now the Dutchman has refused to deny a possibility of joining the Bundesliga giants.
“I don’t want to say anything on this subject. I am now fully focused on the European Championship,” Van der Vaart told Bild.
The Dutch international is still considered a key player at White Hart Lane, but he is extremely unhappy with coach Harry Redknapp, who has substituted him in 20 of 28 Premier League games he started this season.
