Catalan daily newspaper Sport has suggested that Napoli have all but agreed to sign Spanish midfielder David Lopez from Espanyol.
It is no secret the Azzurri were in the market for a central midfielder, and they eventually managed to recruit Jonathan de Guzman from Villarreal.
Nevertheless, Sport understands that Napoli are also set to complete the signing of Espanyol starlet David Lopez.
The Azzurri boss Rafael Benitez has been reportedly impressed by the holding midfielder and the two clubs are in advanced talks over a deal that should see the 24-year-old move to Stadio San Paolo.
David Lopez began his professional career at Espanyol and enjoyed loan spells with Leganes and Huesca before finally nailing down a regular starting berth at Cornella El Prat.
His suitors Napoli, believed to be ready to pay more than €5 million for the player’s services, face Athletic Bilbao at New San Mames tomorrow evening, and they are 5/2 to win the Champions League play-off return leg.
