Il Corriere dello Sport is reporting that Napoli have moved to the front of the queue for Udinese defender Mehdi Benatia.
The Azzurri are already preparing for the 2013/2014 season and even though much will depend on whether Edinson Cavani remains, the club officials are doing their best to lure high-profile players to San Paolo.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Napoli are set to open talks with Udinese over the highly rated defender Mehdi Benatia.
The 26-year-old recently pledged his future to the Zebrette, but there are no doubts he will be sold if the Azzurri’s offer is deemed sufficient.
Napoli need defensive reinforcements after Hugo Campagnaro agreed to join Inter, especially as Rolando is also expected to leave.
It is hardly surprising they have decided to go for Mehdi Benatia, given that the Moroccan is widely regarded as one of the best stoppers in Italian Serie A.
